How do I manage thaw?

A few warmer days don't necessarily mean your skating season is over. One of the benefits of YardRink's patented ice-filled panel system is that the frozen panels help retain cold temperatures, making your rink more resilient during brief warm spells.

What Should I Do During a Thaw?

The best thing you can do is... nothing.

If your rink begins to soften during a mid-season thaw, resist the urge to shovel, chip away ice, or add more water. Simply leave the rink alone and let temperatures drop again. In most cases, your rink will refreeze naturally once colder weather returns.

For the best results, your rink should have at least 4 inches of ice at the lowest end. A solid ice base helps your rink better withstand temporary warm weather and recover more quickly when freezing temperatures return.

Winter weather isn't always perfect, and occasional thaws are normal. YardRink is designed to handle changing conditions, so as long as temperatures return below freezing, your rink should be ready for skating again before you know it.
