The key to a successful YardRink season is having consistent cold temperatures that allow your rink to freeze and maintain a quality ice surface. While every winter is different, understanding the ideal conditions can help you get the most out of your rink.

The best conditions for a YardRink are when you have:

  • Typical nighttime temperatures in the lower 20°F range (around -6°C) or below
  • Daytime temperatures averaging below 36°F (2°C)
Can My YardRink Handle Warmer Days?

Yes! Thanks to the ice-filled panels of your YardRink, the ice is able to better withstand short periods. Many customers are able to maintain their rink even during unseasonably warm winter conditions.

Your rink can typically handle daytime temperatures that are a bit warmer than freezing, especially when colder overnight temperatures return. During warmer conditions, keep an eye on your ice surface and avoid skating if the ice becomes soft or slushy.
